Seasons Match's at Whaddon
Avon AC will not be able to fish our published match's at Whaddon
this season due to access problems.
This year all three fields that we fish have been planted with
crops and the track we normally use to drive down to the river
had been ploughed and is now unsuitable to drive across.
It is hoped that some of these match's will be moved elsewhere
but some will have to be cancelled.
We are sorry to disappoint our match fishing members but this
is beyond our control.
Updates on match dates and venues will be posted on the clubs
website and Facebook page
Our Open matches due to fished on Sunday 1st July and Sunday
26th Aug have now been cancelled.
The Saturday series will now be fished on Scotland Road, Portman
Road and Forest.

Aug 2018 Avon Saturday Series Match Four
An upstream wind greeted the anglers on the last match of the
series, with the threat of rain and wind it was always going to
be harder than the previous three matches. And with the Avon at
Portman Road low, clear and with little flow the poor conditions
resulted in the weights being lower than in previous rounds.
Bryan Haigh ended up winning the match off the same peg he won
off in the 3 match - peg 32 at the bottom of Portman Road behind
the garages with 9-5-0 of perch & roach. Starting off with
a bombardment off 12 balls of groundbait at 8m. Fishing the maggot
at the start he changed to caster to keep the roach coming, occasionally
trying the elderberry and catching the odd better roach including
one of 1-2-0. He also had 10 perch to 0-10-0 over the worm at
Second on the day from the armchair peg 25 was Andy Pratten (Gordon),
who caught roach over loose fed hemp for 7-11-0 narrowly beating
Marcus Crook on the day from peg 26 the same peg as two weeks
ago with 7-9-0 of roach on the caster over groundbait.
1 BRYAN HAIGH 9-5-0 (32)
2 ANDY PRATTEN 7-11-0 (25)
3 MARK CROOK 7-9-0 (26)
4 ALAN BROWN 6-0-0 (28)
5 PETE MILLS 5-8-0 (21)
6 MIKE WHITHY 3-8-0 (22)
After wins in round three and four it was Melksham angler Bryan
Haigh who topped the serries.
